An epiphyte, a plant that relies on other plants to provide a safe home, but does not take from the host. These plants form on the branches, and often electric lines, in our subtropic and tropic regions. Collecting morning dew and sun light is day in the life of these precious plants.
Air Plants seem to live on air alone. These gentle plants require no more than the nutrients in a spring water bath and the sun light appropriate to their amount of trichomes. The more crystalline in appearance the more sunlight the plant will need.
crassula arborescens undulatifolia
" Crassula arborescens subsp. undulatifolia is found in the southern parts of the Klein Winterhoek Mountains of the Eastern Cape. Plants typically grow in sandstone and shale-derived soils in rocky to gravel-like conditions. They are associated with elements of fynbos and renosterveld in both the Western and Eastern Cape habitats. Plants often occupy large areas on hills, slopes and sometimes cliffs but are also found in valleys but with a preference for sunny and exposed situations."
This smashing fellow has been a part of the studio for 8 months. He seems happiest with a full drink once a week in the summer and every other week during the dark months. A social plant, he is happiest along side other potted succulents, tending to turn toward company before turning toward the sun. A sunny spot will bring out robust leaves and coloring along the edges. A less sunny spot will maintain his small habit and style.
A part of the small potted succulents and priced at 7$ this small bonsai ready plant will bring it's weight in joy.
