It's been a long growing season. With so many plants in the studio needing to stretch their roots I thought it would be fun to invite you to bring your plant too.
Let's share what we've noticed this summer and hear some of my tips and trick to keep all of your plants happy through the dark months.
I will give info on grow lights and structures available through some of my favorite suppliers. Leave with some fertilizer formulated to your plant

Let's tip toe into the highly revered Japanese practice of Ikebana, or "making flowers alive" as it would translate. This class will focus on the meditation and patience needed to be at one with the flowers and plants being used in our arrangements. We will talk through our materials, discussing the life cycle each has experienced and how that may help us to use them to design.
Ikebana focuses a great deal on the life cycle, representing a circle of experience in the placement of each element against the negative space surrounding the arrangement. Learning about representing Heaven, Earth and Man with elements of varying heights and stature.
We will discuss the Shin, Soe and Tal, the main elements in our arrangements representing Heaven, Earth and Man. We will touch on how our choice to place each element creates a basic language to communicate. Practicing to communicate big ideas through artistic expression is essential to the continued development of our social, verbal and emotional aptitude.

Koke, is Japanese for moss and dama is ball. Kokedama is as Japanese Bonsai practice. A ball of moss containing a plant that fits in the palm of your hand. This practice is thought to have been adapted from the careful observation of the small amount of moss, neagari, that forms on the exposed roots and trunks in traditional bonsai. Bonsai has many aspects and many components.

Your kokedama will need water when they feel dry to the touch and are very lightweight. To water your kokedama fill a bowl with fresh water. Gently place your kokedama into the bowl, waiting until all air bubbles have released and your kokedama is soaked through. Your kokedama may be dripping wet for a few hours, use a dish to catch the water.
Provide the right amount of sunlight for your plant.
